Barnet FC’s Under 23 side will be playing in the final of the Central League Cup (South) on Wednesday night against Bristol City. The Young Bees will be participating in their first competitive cup final since their inception at the start of the 2015/16 season.
The match will take place at The Hive on Wednesday 10th May, with tickets priced at £3 for adults, £1 for children or FREE for Barnet FC Members. Kick-off is at 7pm.
They come up against a strong Bristol City team whose academy is rated one category above our own and ply their trade in the Professional Development League.
The Bees team, who have scored 15 goals in their 5 matches, will be made up of a mixture of current first team players, Under 23’s and some rising academy stars.
Development Team Coach Dean Selvey has guided his side past the likes of Colchester, Southend and AFC Wimbledon to reach the final and has been speaking ahead of the match.
“The group have worked tremendously hard this year so the Cup Final is a reward for the progression they have made especially taking in to account that the U23 group was only formed last season.
“We have a group of players who work hard, love the game and can’t wait to step out on to the pitch on Wednesday night. It’s a great mix of experience, youth and those players who are making their first steps in to the first team arena.
“This is the perfect platform for them to show how good they are and show the Barnet fans that the future is bright at this football club. Since the Academy opened in 2009, we have had great success getting Academy graduates in to the 1st team and this is another huge step in the right direction.”
Come down to The Hive and support Barnet FC’s young talent!
