Kai McKenzie-Lyle made the perfect debut for St Ives Town as he helped his side to victory on the opening day of the Evo Stik Southern Premier League season, keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory.
It was a tricky assignment for the Saints who made the long trip from Cambridgeshire down to Weymouth, but the Guyana international was on top form, confidently dealing with any attempt on his goal.
Manager Ricky Marheineke was quick to praise the 19 year-old ‘keeper.
“Our goal was pretty much untroubled with the exception of a couple of efforts from long distance and with Kai in between the sticks it’s going to have to be some strike to beat him.
“He looked very calm, very collected and he is a great addition.”
