Team News:

Curtis Weston (knee), John Akinde (knee), Elliott Johnson (knee) and Richard Brindley (ankle) will all not be available for this weekend’s game. No Barnet player is suspended.

Last Time We Met:

Stevenage were victorious on April 1st earlier this year as they ran out 1-0 winners over Barnet at Broadhall Way.

The winning goal came in the 12th minute, Tom Pett’s effort taking a massive deflection, sending Jamie Stephens the wrong way. Barnet did all they could to get back into the game, but the Stevenage defence stood firm.

Manager:

Stevenage manger Darren Sarll’s coaching career began at Stevenage working with the reserve team. Spells at Brentford and Rotherham followed before he came full circle and arrived back at Stevenage as Head of Youth.

He was promoted to first team coach after the appointment of Teddy Sheringham as manager. When Sheringham was sacked in February 2016, Sarll was named as caretaker manager. After losing six of his first nine games, Boro brought in Glenn Roeder to advise Sarll.

After guiding the side to an 18th-place finish, Sarll was given the manager’s job on a permanent basis. His playing days as a midfielder featured appearances for Hitchin Town, Bedford Town, St Albans City and Hemel Hempstead.

Dangerman:

Matt Godden is yet to get off of the mark so far this campaign, but his 21 goals in all competitions last season was only bettered by a handful of players in this division.

He made his professional debut for Scunthorpe in 2010 but first found his scoring boots at Ebbsfleet United where he bagged 47 goals in 91 games. Stevenage signed him in the summer of 2016.

Last Time Out:

Stevenage picked up their first win of the season last weekend, winning 3-1 against Grimsby Town.

They took the lead through Danny Newton in the 36th minute before Jonathan Smith doubled their advantage just before the half time whistle. On the hour mark, Grimsby were reduced to ten men and seven minutes later the game was put beyond all doubt when Ben Kennedy fired into the top left corner. Grimsby pulled a goal back with nine minutes left on the clock but Stevenage secured all three points.

Stevenage: Fryer, Henry, Wilkinson, Franks, J Martin, Samuel (Kennedy 60’), Smith (Conlon 80’), Gorman, Pett, Godden (McKee 80’), Newton.

Unused Subs: Whelpdale, Beautyman, Day, Vancooten.
