After a break in the league due to the FA Cup, Mauro said “The experience wasn’t one to remember, however it helps us concentrate even more on the league and getting ourselves back to winning ways.
“The main aim is to get back into the league and start picking up vital results. We’ve been working all week to make sure we get the result we want and hopefully tomorrow we get the win and start climbing up the table.”
Despite losing games, Barnet have been putting in some fine performances, something Mauro thinks the squad have picked up on: “It’s frustrating, we’re playing well but at the end of the day if we’re not getting the results it’s not good enough on our part.
“Our main aim now is to turn these good performances into results. We don’t want to come away with one point, our aim is to get all three and that’s what the team and everyone involved is thriving to get.”
The morale within the dressing is high, with Mauro saying the squad has a real sense of togetherness: “We’ve always been a very good bunch of lads, we tell each other off when we have to, but we praise each other went it’s deserved. We just need to remain positive and hope that results start coming our way.”
With the run of games the Bees are currently in, Mauro believes it’ll only take one result to get the ball rolling: “One result will then trigger a run of results and then we just have to take it game by game, we need to make sure we’re focused after every result and stay hungry for it.”
Looking back, Mauro reflected on the season so far as a whole and what he wanted from the weekend: “We started off strong, but recently we haven’t really got the results we want, and it’s been frustrating the last month or so.
“But we need to forget about the past now, we need to look ahead and move on. We’ll take it game by game like I said and hopefully, we’ll get the result at the weekend to kickstart our season again.”
