Team News:

Harry Taylor is out for several weeks after damaging his metatarsal in the previous fixture against Chesterfield.

Richard Brindley is still training to try and be match fit for the coming weeks.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro is also sidelined along with Curtis Weston.

Elliott Johnson (knee) and Dave Tarpey (knee) are both sidelined with their long-term injuries.

Last Time We Met:

The last time the two sides met Barnet won 1-0 at the Globe Arena after Morecambe were reduced to 10 men early on.

It was Peter Murphy who was sent off for the Shrimps after just 27 minutes, and Barnet took advantage.

Tom Champion put the Bees 1-0 after 65 minutes, which turned out to be the only goal of the game.

Barnet climbed to 11th, while Morecambe dropped to 17th after the result.

Manager:

Jim Bentley was confirmed as the new manager of Morecambe on May 13, 2011. On becoming the Shrimps boss, Jim entered football management for the first time.

Bentley was appointed initially on a two-year deal to replace Sammy McIlroy who left the club at the end of the 2010/11 campaign, and has signed two further contracts since.

Before becoming manager, he served as the club’s captain, having been at the club since 2002 and was part of the promotion winning team in 2007. Bentley enjoyed a successful first season in charge in 2011/12, as he improved their league finish by five places from the previous campaign.

The 2014-15 season saw Bentley secure 11th place, his highest finish to date.

Dangerman:

Experienced and versatile, Garry Thompson is currently in his second spell at Morecambe, joining then in June 2017 after nine years away from the Globe Arena.

Overall across both his spells, he’s made over 300 appearances for the club in all competitions. This season, he made 20 league appearances scoring three league goals in the process.

On his second debut, he got both goals in a 2-1 win against Cheltenham helping his side complete the comeback, include a last-minute winner.

With a wealth of league appearances across spells at Scunthorpe, Bradford, Notts County and Wycombe, it’s clear that he’ll have an influence on the game come Saturday.

Last Time Out:

In their last fixture, Morecambe won 2-0 at home against Coventry City, moving them two points clear of the relegation zone.

Vadaine Oliver put the Shrimps ahead, slotting home after Michael Rose’s superb free kick.

Callum Lang made it 2-0 with 20 minutes left to play. He’d only been on the field moments before he drilled the ball past Lee Burge, Lang’s first league goal of the season.
