Barnet: The Bees have played some good football in recent weeks, but their results have been a little inconsistent – Martin Allen’s side have won four, drawn three and lost three of their previous ten games. Barnet are 13th in the form chart (last eight matches) and currently sit in 15th place – safely in mid-table.

Exeter City: Just one place separates Barnet and Exeter, but the Grecians are five points better off than the Bees. That’s partly down to their improved form in recent weeks – City have won three and drawn two of their previous five matches. Their recent run is in stark contrast to a difficult February, where they only gained one point from five games. Exeter are 8th in the form table (last eight matches), but have only the 16th best home record in League Two. 

In The Dugout:  Paul Tisdale is the 2nd longest serving manager in the top four divisions. The former Southampton midfielder had a short but nomadic playing career, appearing for FinnPa in Finland, and Greek side Panionios. Tisdale progressed to management after injury forced him into early retirement. Four promotions and an FA Cup run with Team Bath prompted Exeter to offer him the manager’s job at St James’ Park – the Valetta-born coach hasn’t looked back, and is still in the hot seat over nine years later. In that time Tisdale has won promotion from the Conference in 2008, and followed that up with promotion from League Two the following year. 

Dangerman: Exeter City’s  David Wheeler has found his goal scoring boots this season, putting the ball in the net eight times in all competitions. The 25-year-old winger began his senior career at Lewes, where he amassed over 100 appearances in the Conference and Conference South. A move to Staines Town followed in 2011, where 25 goals in 75 games convinced Paul Tisdale to bring him to St James’ Park. Wheeler has been a regular in the side since joining the Grecians in 2013, and has already beaten his goal tally for the whole of last season.

Last Meeting: Barnet ran out 2-0 winners at The Hive back in October. Exeter defender Troy Brown turned Josh Clarke’s cross into his own net after 34 minutes, before Clarke scored the Bees second with 54 minutes on the clock. You can read the match report from that game here.
