A Michael Gash double set Barnet on their way to a second consecutive home win at The Hive. 

The striker opened the scoring for the Bees after just a minute, coolly slotting home a neat pass from John Akinde.

Akinde was involved in Barnet’s second, laying the ball into the path of Andy Yiadom who curled the ball inside the left-hand post after 33 minutes. 

The Bees’ third was powerfully fired into the back of the net by Gash on 55 minutes, after Aaron McLean’s deflected free-kick fell to him in the penalty area.

Jodi Jones pulled one back for the Daggers, curling a 66th minute set piece into the back of the net.

But it was Barnet who ultimately ran out convincing winners.

Following Gash’s first minute opener, Dagenham had their first effort of the match after eight minutes – Christian Doidge putting the ball wide of the left post from inside the box. 

On 15 minutes Nicolas Hamalainen then put a shot over the bar from the edge of the area.

McLean’s turn and shot from a tight angle flew over the bar after 22 minutes, as Barnet began to assert their dominance on the game.

Yiadom doubled the Bees lead with a superb curling strike, and almost added a third a minute later.

The Barnet full back struck an identical effort from the edge of the penalty area – however this time it went just wide of the left post.

Substitute Jodi Jones tested Max Crocombe in the Bees’ goal on 50 minutes with a left-sided drive, but the on-loan keeper saved comfortably.

But it was Barnet who found a third soon after – Gash doubling his goal tally with a strong drive past Ex-Bee Liam O’Brien in the Daggers goal. 

John Akinde then struck a long-range drive that cannoned off the left post after 63 minutes. 

Just when things were looking comfortable Jones pulled a goal back for Dagenaham with a well taken 65th minute free kick.

But the Bees were in full flow, and Akinde missed two chances in quick succession; first firing a one-on-one straight at O’Brien, before forcing the keeper into an acrobatic save on 68 minutes. 

After 88 minutes a weaving run by substitute Mauro Vilhete ended with a shot that flew narrowly wide of the right post.

In injury time O’Brien again saved from Akinde with the striker bearing down on goal, following a well timed Gash pass.

Barnet ultimately held on for a valuable and well deserved three points.

Martin Allen’s side now travel to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday.
