The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Barnet following their excellent 3-2 victory against early promotion contenders, Oxford United in Sky Bet League Two on Sunday 29th October 2015.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
Barnet manager Martin Allen received a specially commissioned trophy, made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.
The home side, who hadn’t lost in their last twelve outings at the Kassam Stadium, took the advantage on 14 minutes through Liam Sercombe’s strike. However, three goals in five minutes from Curtis Weston, John Akinde and Josh Clarke pegged Oxford back midway through the first half.
Sercombe pulled one back before half-time however Allen’s team stayed resolute in the second half and held out for a well-deserved win against one of the league’s top performing sides this season.
Speaking after the match, Allen had said: “"It was a very good performance from start to finish, we looked dangerous.
"We put a plan together and we tried to play a bit on the counter-attack. We played extremely well and deserved to win.
"I just thought it was the right time to come here today and play them."
