Barnet’s five match unbeaten run came to an end at Kenilworth Road, as John Still’s Luton Town ran out 2-0 winners.
Danny Green opened the scoring when his unstoppable right-wing drive found the top right corner of the net on 24 minutes.
Cameron McGeehan then doubled Luton’s advantage when he fired a powerful effort past Jamie Stephens midway through the second half.
It was the home side who had the first chance of the match – Josh McQuoid headed straight at Stephens after connecting with a right-sided cross on five minutes.
Scott Griffiths looked to handle in the penalty area three minutes later, but the referee decided against awarding the Bees a spot kick.
Barnet’s first effort on goal came after 20 minutes – Andy Yiadom hitting a tame shot straight at Mark Tyler following some good build-up play.
Luton Town went ahead soon after; Green picked up the ball on the right and fired a spectacular shot past Jamie Stephens and into the top corner.
The Hatters’ tails were up and McGeehan forced Stephens into an acrobatic save after 26 minutes – Barnet’s stopper turning the forward’s effort around the right hand post.
Martin Allen’s side started the second half brightly and John Akinde could have equalised on 51 minutes – the striker connected with Josh Clarke’s right wing cross, but his shot was off target.
Jonathan Smith missed a good chance to double Luton’s lead when he fired over the bar from inside the box with an hour played.
The home side extended their lead after 66 minutes when McGeehan received the ball in the area and powered a shot into the back of the net.
Smith then drilled the ball wide of the right post on 71 minutes, before McGeehan launched an effort over the bar.
Barnet searched for an equaliser, but Luton defended resiliently to hold on for the win.
The Bees now face Morecambe at The Hive next Saturday.
