The coming season will see Luton compete in the Football League for the first time in six years after running away with the Conference in 2013/14, equaling Aldershot Town’s record points haul of 101 from 2007/08 and wrapping up the title with three games to spare.

The Hatters have certainly had a busy summer as they seek to maintain their League status. John Still recently signed 22-year-old defender Luke Wilkinson for a second time, having recruited him for Dagenham & Redbridge back in 2010. Also strengthening the back line is 30-year-old Paul Connolly, signed on a free after representing Millwall in the Championship and Crawley Town in League One last season.

 

Another former Crawley player joining the Hatters is midfielder Adam Drury, signed on a two-year deal for £100,000 having already spent a season with Luton in 2010/11.

Still has also sought to increase his firepower up front with the addition of two prolific strikers from non-league. Boston United striker Ricky Miller has been signed on a one-year deal having netted 28 times in all competitions for the Millers last season, while 28-year-old Ross Lafayette, scorer of 17 goals last term, has also joined after rejecting a new deal with Welling United. 

The Bees met Luton twice last season in quick succession during the festive period, losing 2-1 on both occasions. The Hatters raced into a 2-0 lead at The Hive on Boxing Day, with Jon Nurse seeing red on the stroke of half-time before Jake Hyde pulled one back on 69 minutes. The return fixture at Kenilworth Road on New Year’s Day followed much the same pattern, with Jake Hyde grabbing a second-half consolation goal after Andre Gray and Paul Benson had put Luton in control.
