Mauro Vilhete made his comeback on Tuesday night after a month out with an ankle injury, and the Barnet midfielder admitted that it felt good to be back.

Speaking to the club’s official website after training on Friday, he said:

“I was very pleased to get back out on the pitch. I hadn’t been back training for too long but the gaffer trusted me enough to bring me off the bench and I felt good. I’m back fit now and I just want to do well for the team.”

Vilhete was introduced as a half-time substitute against Braintree Town in midweek, and although he admitted that it had been a tough game he still believes that Barnet should be happy with a point following the 1-1 draw:

“It was quite tough to get into the game but we dug deep and made sure that we got something out of the game. We could have won but we will take the point at the end of the day.

“We knew that we had a couple of tough fixtures coming up and we said that we wanted a minimum of four points from them which we’ve achieved so we are happy.”

Vilhete is now looking forward to a busy week that will see Barnet take on three top-half teams inside seven days with the visits of Eastleigh and Kidderminster Harriers either side of a midweek trip to Macclesfield:

“We are confident that we can go out there and win games. We are just taking it game by game to make sure that we are ready every time. The boys are very welcoming and the new faces that have come in have integrated straight into the team and they are doing very well.

“We have set ourselves high standards and we need to make sure that we maintain those and go up a level in order to keep going.”
