Barnet Ladies crashed out of the FA Women’s Cup as Yeovil Town cruised to a 3-0 win at Underhill.

With Tracey Kevins departing across the pond to LA Strikers the Bees had hoped to give her the perfect send off but it was not to be as a Stacey Pearson hat-trick spoilt the party.   

Positives can be taken however as Mai Konno and Kaylie Clark-Koentopp both made their debuts as Leanne Reidy made her 100th appearance for the club.

The home side started strongly but it was Yeovil who created the first opportunity of the match after eight minutes when Justine Lorton intercepted Cherie Rowlands’ wayward pass before shooting wide. 

The keeper redeemed herself just three minutes later when she saved Pearson’s close range effort but she was unable to deny the striker for a second time as Yeovil took the lead after 13 minutes.

Four minutes later the away side doubled their advantage when Pearson looped a beautiful header into the net from just inside box.

The Bees needed a response and they almost got one after 23 minutes but despite an excellent cross from Chontelle Lawrence nobody was on hand to convert.

Nine minutes later and it was all but game over Pearson tapped the ball home for her hat-trick after Kirsty Whitton saw her shot cannon off the crossbar. 

The Bees should have been presented with the perfect chance to reduce the deficit when Lawrence was sent tumbling in the box by Emma Brazell but the referee waved play on.

It could have been ever worse for the Bees at the break had it not been for Rowlands who showed outstanding reflexes to deny Laura Bray. 

Debutant Clark-Koentopp almosy provided Barnet with the perfect start to the second-half but she was unable to generate the power needed to trouble the Yeovil keeper.

Stacey Sowden was next to test the away side’s increasingly shaky defence but she shot well wide under pressure from Rosie Williams. 

As the game drew to a close Jodie Cornwall and Nadine Grogan both went close for Yeovil but they had to settle for 3-0 as Rowlands kept them out.
