Arsenal take on Everton on Monday night at Underhill in the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup.

Austin Lipman was the hero in the last round as his 108th minute strike gave the Gunners a 2-1 win over Fulham at the home of the Bees. 

Another player who has had a big impact for Steve Gatting’s side is winger Anthony Jeffrey who is hoping the current crop can emulate the Youth Cup winning side of 2009.

“After seeing Jack Wilshere’s team go so far and win it, it’s a dream for us to do the same,” Jeffrey told Arsenal.com. “We’ve been talking about it amongst ourselves. Everyone is really up for it and ready to go.”

The 18-year-old has been in fine form this season with goals in both the third and fourth round and he is hoping to add another to his tally against the Toffees. 

“I’m in good form at the moment. I hadn’t scored before this season, so the Youth Cup is proving quite lucky for me. Hopefully I can keep it going in the next round and we can go further.

“We had a tough game in the last round [against Fulham]. Now we’re just trying to win it in 90 minutes if we can. It’s going to be a hard game and we’ll have to work hard.”

Jeffrey continued by praising the side’s desire, attitude and ability to win at all costs and adapt their style of play to do so. 

“You can see how much desire we have to win, we have got a great team with some great players, but if we didn’t have the right attitude we wouldn’t get anywhere.

“Winning is the most important thing. Sometimes it doesn’t matter if you win ugly or win pretty; the most important thing is getting through.”

Everton, who trained at The Hive on Monday, will also have to face the likes of Chuba Akpom, Hector Bellerin and Serge Gnabry who has recently returned from injury.

“We’ve played Everton before, but we had a young team out. Now we’ve got big players like Chuba Akpom, Isaac Hayden, Hector Bellerin and Serge Gnabry all playing. 

“It should be a good game and a good test, but if we work our hardest and play at our best then we can come out on top.”
