The last Barnet match ever to take place at Underhill is certainly one that will live long in the memory of all associated with the club.
Jake Hyde got the all important goal nine minutes from time before Graham Stack saved a 93rd minute penalty to give the Bees a 1-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers.
Edgar Davids made two changes from the side who lost 3-2 to Torquay United with Jake Hyde and Kyle De Silva starting in favour of Harry Crawford and John Oster.
The match was delayed by 15 minutes but that didn’t stop the Bees who made a bright start to the match.
With just two minutes played Hyde latched onto a searching ball from Elliot Johnson and fired inches past the post.
11 minutes later keeper Matt Ingram gifted the Bees a corner after he failed to deal with a Keanu Marsh-Brown shot. However, the goalkeeper redeemed himself seconds later as he dived to stop David Stephens header.
With 16 minutes played Hyde went close again but this time he was unable to hit the target after good work from Mark Byrne down the right.
Barnet continued to press with the Bees faithful providing a terrific atmosphere throughout the match. Hyde saw two headers float wide before Ingram pushed Curtis Weston’s powerful drive behind via the post.
The Bees continued to press in the second-half and Davids had the first chance hen he burst into the box and shot inches wide before Hyde was again denied by Ingram.
With 61 minutes played the Bees made a substitution that changed the game as Luke Gambin replaced Keanu Marsh-Brown. The winger was powerful, direct and persistent and with 20 minutes to play he was rewarded.
Curtis Weston picked up the ball in the middle of the park before finding Gambin on the right, the winger darted past his man to the byline and smashed the ball into the box where Hyde converted.
The drama wasn’t over however and with one minute of added time remaining the away side won a penalty when Bruno Andrade went down under a Tom Flanagan challenge.
Joel Grant stepped up and smashed the penalty to Stack’s right but the keeper somehow found a way to turn it around the post on the ground he made his Arsenal debut on over a decade ago.
The Bees safety is now in their own hands. Next stop Northampton. Come on you Bees.
