Barnet v Lincoln City might have the ring of an old League 2 fixture, but it isn’t it’s a Skrill Premier League fixture until either side does anything about it.
The real impact of the defeat at Halifax will be possible to discern after Saturday’s fixture. Will it lead to a redoubling of effort to get back to winning ways and improvements in all areas of the team that we’d all like to see?
Every team will find playing at The Shay a challenge; with Halifax winning all four of their home games to date. They are quick and resourceful upfront and mean and resolute at the back. They are also well rehearsed when it comes to re-starts at both ends of the pitch.
So, it shouldn’t be seen as a calamity that the Bees lost last weekend if Barnet can show “bouncebackability” against Lincoln.
At Halifax Barnet opened the stronger and created a few genuine chances but then were subject to a lot of pressure by the home side which resulted in finding themselves two goals down.
All the season there has been spells in matches – and sometimes long spells at that – when the Bees have played some great stuff and looked a very capable outfit. Of course the gripe is that perhaps these spells could have been longer; but there can be no doubting that the ability is there.
Barry Swain makes a welcome return to commentary action for Barnet Player on Saturday. Barry has been very helpful in getting Player up and running and he just can’t wait to comment on the Bees once more. He will not be Barnet’s regular commentator but his schedule has a gap in it and Barry is back on the Bee beat once again.
