Having not played last Sunday due to a frozen pitch The Bees looked refreshed and ready as they sought to end the search for their first league win.

Vicky Boardman started upfront for her 50th club appearance.

The break appeared to have had an impact as The Bees had complete control of the opening stages of the game, playing some fluid passing football and looking a class above their opponents, who they gained their first league point against back in September.

Barnet were left cursing their reluctance to shoot when Chontelle Lawrence was closed down after having been clear on goal. Cardiff had their first opportunity of the game when a very close range Cori Williams shot was tipped over by Cherie Rowlands, who dealt with the subsequent corner comfortably. Shortly after this Lawrence was one on one with the keeper yet again, but her shot rebounded out for a corner off City’s goalkeeper Rhian Nokes. 

As the first half drew to a close Cherie Rowlands made another good save, this time from Paige Stewart, which she could not hold on to but was able to comfortably deal with the loose ball.

Both sides went in level at half time with Cardiff starting to gain some momentum during the closing stages of the half. 

Jenny Kikomeko came close for The Bees with just a quarter of an hour remaining, however it was to rebound off Eleanor Isaac and go out of touch. Sowden was one on one with the keeper with little over ten minutes remaining which she put wide; she had another opportunity just two minutes later, this time from further out which was sent high and wide. This was to be the last notable opportunity of the game as it began to fizzle out with neither side wanting to throw the points away.

Barnet Ladies are still without a win but are looking much improved in recent weeks and playing with a new found confidence and will look to gain that elusive win at Watford next Sunday with a slightly earlier kick off time of 1pm.
