TOM KNOWLES IS A BEE

Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of winger Tom Knowles on a free transfer.

Knowles most recently spent two years with Forest Green Rovers in the National League, where he made 97 appearances, scored 14 goals and registered nine assists.

Following an impressive 2025/26 campaign, where he featured in all but one league game and hit double figures, Knowles collected the fans’ player of the year award, as well as the Goal of the season accolade for a free-kick in a 1-0 win against Eastleigh.

The 27-year-old’s journey started in Cambridge United’s youth set-up in 2016, where he went on to make 12 First Team and appearances and score twice.

During his time with the U’s, the forward enjoyed multiple loan spells across several clubs in the Southern Premier League, followed by the National League South in order to gain valuable experience in the men’s game.

Knowles’ first move away from the club saw him put pen to paper on a deal with Yeovil Town, where he quickly became a fan favourite, scoring 16 goals in 78 games across a two-year spell at Huish Park.

Walsall then swooped in for the versatile attacker and bought him to the Black Country, where he registered 92 appearances and racked up 17 goal contributions in League Two before the move to Forest Green in 2024.

On bringing Tom to Barnet, Manager Dean Brennan said:

“Knowles is a player we originally tried to purchase from a previous club years ago, but he decided to go to an EFL club at the time, so we’ve always monitored his situation.

He’s a player I’ve always admired from afar and he was one of our number one targets this summer and we’ve managed to get him to the football club, so it’s very positive news.

He’s a dynamic player, extremely professional and a fit lad. He’s also got good dribbling skills, pace and is a good finisher, so he ticks a lot of boxes for us and I already know he’s a low maintenance player and a lot about his personality.

There’s no doubt he’ll come in and make a big impact and the big challenge for him now is I think he can score more goals and we’ve done this with several players in the past; I’ve managed to coach them to score more goals.”

On joining the Bees, Tom added:

“Really excited to get going, it’s a club heading in the right direction and after speaking with the gaffer it was something I was really interested in.

I had a great conversation with Dean about how he sees me fitting into the team, and with the culture they’ve got here and everything at the club it’s something I’m really interested in and excited to be joining.”

Welcome to Barnet, Tom!

The deal is subject to League and FA approval
