Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of centre-forward Jack Maskell on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee from National League North side Darlington ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The youngster joins the Bees after spending two years with the Quakers, where he made a total of 77 appearances and scored 23 goals.
The 21-year-old began his career with Horden CW in the Northern Football League, winning the league’s Young Player of the Season award, before being picked up by Dunston four divisions higher and impressing with 26 goals in 36 games during the 2023/24 campaign.
Maskell’s move to North-West London sees him make the jump to the EFL for the first time, marking a significant milestone in his career.
On securing the signature of the young striker, Dean Brennan said:
“Jack’s someone we’ve monitored over the last 12 months and we’ve seen his progression at Darlington and the impact he can have on games with his attributes.
He’s of course going to take a bit of time to settle into full-time football, but I’m extremely excited about Jack signing for us.
He was one of our top targets this summer and I’m absolutely buzzing we’ve got him here.
He epitomises what we’re all about as a football club over the last five years under me, he’s extremely hardworking, exceptional in the air and we’re looking forward to being able to develop him into a better centre-forward.
We’ve always been a club that’s looked at young players and how we can upgrade in that way so I’m delighted with this signing ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.”
On linking up with the Bees, Maskell added:
“Joining a professional club is something I’ve always wanted to do so I’m buzzing to get the deal done and can’t wait to get started.
I’ve spoken to Dean a lot and he’s got the same mentality as me and he wants me to score goals.
I’d say I’m energetic, I like to be powerful from the front and press and you’ll always get 100% from me.”
Welcome to Barnet, Jack!
The deal is subject to League and FA approval
