Barnet travel up to Derbyshire tomorrow to face Chesterfield in matchday 20 of the 2025/26 Sky Bet League Two table, looking to extend their unbeaten run on the road to nine games.
Bees’ fans were sent home delighted on Tuesday night after four goals were put past Bristol Rovers under the lights on home soil.
Senior struck first, linking up with Ryan Glover to head home a delightful delivery, before a sumptuous strike outside the box from Nnamdi Ofoborh doubled our lead heading into half-time.
Despite a period of pressure from the visitors in the second 45, with Cieran Slicker forced into action on numerous occasion and the defence having to put their bodies on the line, it was Mark Shelton who slotted home with ease from 12-yards out after being brought down in the area and Callum Stead added the final sucker punch for the Gas minutes before the referee’s final whistle.
With four different goalscorers, a clean sheet and a first league win since October 11th away at Tranmere Rovers, Barnet are hoping they can take the mid-week momentum into a busy run of fixtures as we approach the new year.

Chesterfield:
The Spireites currently sit 9th in the Sky Bet League Two table, with seven wins, eight draws and four losses to their name.
Last season, the Derbyshire outfit enjoyed a late surge into the play-offs following an injury-ridden campaign, but were unable to make the jump into the third tier.
Looking for their first league win at home since early October, the club have scored 33 goals across 19 games so far, finding the back of the net on all but one of those occasions.
Their last outing on Tuesday night saw the Andy Cook’s side earn a point on the road away at Cambridge United. The visitors were 1-0 down from the 13th minute and despite controlling possession, struggled to find an equaliser until three minutes into stoppage time, when a poor clearance from the U’s gave Kyle McFadzean the opportunity to snatch a point on the road.
After coming close to promotion into the Championship in 2015 after finishing in a play-off position, the Blues suffered back-to-back relegations into the National League in 2018, managing to climb back into the football league following the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign.
Chesterfield’s last five results:
Cambridge United 1-1 Chesterfield
Chesterfield 1-2 Doncaster Rovers (FA Cup R2)
Doncaster Rovers 5-1 Chesterfield (Vertu Trophy)
Chesterfield 1-2 Swindon Town
Crewe Alexandra 3-3 Chesterfield
In the opposition dugout:
58-year-old Paul Cook is no stranger to a title or two in his managerial career and has led the Spireites during two separate spells. Previously joining the Derbyshire side in 2012, Cook lead them to the League Two title and the League One play-offs in consecutive seasons between 2013 and 2015, and has since guided the team back the football league in his second stint.
The former professional footballer’s career on the pitch spanned 23 years, before switching to the touchline, where he’s taken charge of 8 different clubs to date.
As well as lifting numerous trophies with Chesterfield, Cook has also won titles during his time at Portsmouth and Wigan Athletic, while also winning multiple cup competitions with Sligo Rovers in West Ireland during his earlier coaching years.
One to watch:
With goalscorers all over the pitch, it’s tough to single just one player out for tomorrow’s opponents, but someone who has continued to impress after being loaned out to the club last season, is Dilan Markandy.
The midfielder signed a three-year deal with the Spireites in June following a successful spell last season and has seven goal contributions in the league so far this campaign.
The 24-year-old Spurs academy graduate has impressive attacking flair and technical ability, with his intelligence off the ball making him tricky to defend against.
Last time the two sides met:
The last time the two sides met was in the National League in the 2023/24 season, where the Bees fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Hive.
The Bees last beat the Spirites in January 2023 on home soil, with Nicke Kabamba scoring a hat-trick.
