MATCH PREVIEW | CREWE ALEXANDRA

The Bees are on the road tomorrow for matchday eight of the 2025/26 Sky Bet League Two campaign, with a visit to the Mornflake Stadium on the cards to face Crewe Alexandra.

Barnet:

The Bees will be looking to put last Saturday’s disappointing result at the Hive behind them and extend their run on the road to three unbeaten when they visit Cheshire tomorrow.

Despite Mark Shelton giving Barnet an early lead against Shrewsbury Town on home soil on Saturday, a quick equaliser following the restart gave the Sallop the momentum to go on to increase the cushion to two goals before the break.

The second-half saw little action from either side, with not much created in front of goal.

The Bees turned up the tempo in the late stages and found themselves in Shrewsbury’s box on a number of occasions, but it was too late to turn around the fortunes.

Galvin worked the ball into the box well and got a shot away, but it was straight into the hands of Brook, followed by a delivery from Idris Kanu to the head of Glover, but again the ball comfortably landed in Brook’s gloves.

The Bees created the final chance of the game, with Glover heading the ball from a difficult angle goalwards, but Brook was able to parry it away and Shelton’s follow up shot was wide.

Barnet’s last five results:

 Barnet FC 1-3 Shrewsbury Town

Luton Town 4-1 Barnet FC (Vertu Trophy)

 Barnet FC 1-1 Colchester

Cheltenham Town 0-1 Barnet FC

Swindon Town 0-2 Barnet FC

Crewe Alexandra:

The Railway men currently sit sixth in the Sky Bet League Two table, having won four, drawn one and lost two so far this campaign.

The Alex have had a mixed bag of results recently on home soil, losing 3-0 to Ian Holloway’s Swindon Town in their last league outing at the Mornflake Stadium, before firing seven past Chesterfield in the Vertu Trophy.

On four occasions, the Chesire club have scored two or more goals in a competitive fixture this season, showing their quality in abundance up top.

Crewe Alexandra’s last five results:

Colchester United 1-1 Crewe Alexandra

Crewe Alexandra 7-1 Chesterfield

Crewe Alexandra 0-3 Swindon Town

Gillingham 1-0 Crewe Alexandra

Fleetwood Town 1-4 Crewe Alexandra

In the opposition dugout:

The Alex are led by Lee Bell, who’s been in position at the club since taking on the role permanently in December 2022 following the departure of Alex Morris. Prior to that, the 42-year-old managed the U23s and U18s, not to mention playing over 145 games for the Railwaymen during his professional career.

Bell has balanced great recruitment with the development of existing players and led the club to a play-off final in his first full season in charge, followed by a 13th-place finish in which the Alex continually pushed for a play-off spot.

The Crewe Manager has got his squad adapting better tactically, making better in-game decisions and playing plenty of free-flowing, fearless football.

Ones to watch:

With two goals and five assists in all competitions to his name so far this season, Josh March will be one to watch tomorrow. The 28-year-old joined the Alex this summer after scoring nine goals and providing three assists for Harrogate Town last season.

Operating mainly as a central striker, March is a poacher in the final third and can shield the ball well, changing direction quickly to get away from defenders. A threat on set-pieces and counter attacks, the in-form forward is a nightmare for oppositions.

Last time these two sides met:

The last time the Bees faced the Railwaymen, Two John Akinde penalties either side of a Harry McKirdy goal earned Barnet the win on home soil.
