September 9th will mark 25 years of voluntary service for our Stadium Announcer Craig Saul, the voice of Barnet Football Club.
Â
After having previous experience of sports announcing for Speedway, sat in a telephone booth, Craig wandered into the Barnet Club Shop on the High Street in Underhill one day, just like he did on a regular basis and by chance, was told the stadium announcer at the time was about to retire.
Â
Craig was asked there and then if he would like to be considered for the replacement, and shortly after, was on the microphone for a Football League Division Two fixture between Kidderminster Harriers and the Bees on the 9th September 2000, in what he described as a ‘boring 0-0’ draw.
Â
25 years on, and Craig has witnessed three relegations, but also three promotions with the Bees, including last season’s title-winning campaign in the National League.
Â
Everyone at Barnet would like to thank Craig for his continued dedication to Barnet Football Club and for being the voice behind the mic on a matchday. Here’s to many more!
