Ibra Sekajja echoed Edgar Davids’ view that despite defeat to Bristol Rovers on Friday positives can be taken from the Bees’ recent performances. 

The 20-year-old is currently on a one-month loan deal from Crystal Palace and also revealed that if the opportunity arose then he would happily extend his stay at the club.

Sekejja believes that the Bees need to be more ruthless in front of goal but they may not have to wait long with Jake Hyde set to return from injury on Saturday.

“It is obviously disappointing to lose because of the way we played, to be honest with you I thought we were dominant from start to finish.

“We did not take our chances going forward and we made silly mistakes at the back which ended up costing us but overall the performance was very good”

Since joining the club in January the Bees have taken three points from a possible nine but Sekajja believes this does not do justice to the way they have performed. 

“In every game that I have played in we have been the better side but unfortunately during that last couple of games we have not got the result we deserved. 

“We have created a lot of chances but we need to be more clinical in front of goal and if we add that to our performances then we will win games.”

Sekajja also revealed that there has been no post-match hangover following Friday’s defeat and that the team came into training looking for an immediate response.

“The lads have picked themselves up and they were very enthusiastic in training on Monday, everyone wants to put the defeat behind us and concentrate on the next game.

“We all want to work hard and improve to make sure that we keep pushing on and picking up points.”

The forward is due to return to Crystal Palace at the end of the week but he admitted that should the opportunity arise he would happily extend his stay.

“My loan is supposed to finish at the end of next weekend and I am not sure whether it will be extended or not but that decision is up to the management. 

“I am really enjoying it at the moment and the fans, management and players have all been very good to me, I would love to stay if it is possible but like I said it is out of my hands.”

For the time being however Sekajja is only focusing on Saturday’s match against Port Vale who currently sit top of Npower League Two.

“Despite the last two games we are staying positive because we know with a little more luck we can pick up points week in week out. 

“We have a massive game on the weekend but if we keep believing in ourselves and play the way we have been then anything is possible. 

"We can take all three points against Port Vale.”
