Jack Saville says that he is feeling positive and relishing the chance to continue his recent form in the FA Trophy this weekend against Concord Rangers.

The centre-half will wear the captain’s armband tomorrow as ‘a massive pat on the back for his recent performances and effort in training’ according to Martin Allen, with the 23-year-old having started in Barnet’s two previous games which have seen the Bees take maximum points from two promotion rivals in Macclesfield Town and Torquay United.

Although admitting that skippering the side will be a relatively new experience, Saville says that he is looking forward to the challenge of leading the side:

“I’ve done it a few times before and I was given the armband once during pre-season by the gaffer. I am excited about it, I am looking forward to it and on a personal note I’m looking to keep pushing on in the right direction.

“I have had to be very patient. I have been put in when needed and personally I feel like I have done well when called upon. On a personal note I am delighted to be in the team and I have to just keep pushing on with that run.”

Martin Allen has already hinted this week that he could include some of the promising youngsters that have helped the Youth Team climb to the top of their league, and Saville believes that the blend of youth and experience could prove to be a potent combination:

“Training this week has been really good. They are a group of good, very exciting young players and with some senior players to go alongside them it will be a very strong team.

“With that extra experience of the older players mixed in with the skill and determination of the younger players, I think it will be a great match.”

With tomorrow’s opponents in Concord Rangers in excellent form themselves, Saville finished by insisting that Barnet will not be taking the Beach Boys lightly as they target a trip to Wembley before the season is out:

“They are on a great run having won 7-0 and 4-0 against top of the league recently. It is going to be a tough game. I remember we played them last season in the FA Cup and although we won 3-0 they are very physical, start fast and want to fight so

“But we have prepared very well and we are ready to win the game. Everybody wants to play at Wembley. Obviously the league is the priority but we are still putting out a very strong team for this fixture and we have prepared very well so there is no excuse not to win the game on Saturday.”
