The Bees will be hoping to return to winning ways tomorrow afternoon after losing 2-1 to Maidstone United on Tuesday night.

Despite Medy Elito’s opener and Mark Cousins’ penalty save, goals from former Bee Justin Amaluzor and Rob Swaine turned the game on its head in the second half.

Attentions now turn to this weekend though as Darren Currie’s side welcome play-off hopefuls Wrexham to The Hive London.

Last Meeting:

The Bees will be out to seek revenge on tomorrow’s opposition after the Welsh side claimed victory in our last meeting.

Stuart Beavon bagged the only goal of the game three minutes before the break back in September as the Dragons maintained their unbeaten home record, winning 1-0.

Head Coach: Bryan Hughes

Bryan Hughes has only been in the Wrexham hot seat since February and has gone on to oversee six wins in 11 games.

Before moving to Wales, Hughes was part of the coaching staff at Scarborough Athletic during the 2014-15 season where he would go on to fill a brief joint-manager role.

The 42-year-old was no stranger to Wrexham upon appointment after the former midfielder began his playing career at the Racecourse Ground, making his debut in 1994. He scored 14 goals in 97 games and went on to help the club reach the FA Cup quarter-finals in his final season with the Dragons.

He then spent six years with Birmingham City, making just shy of 300 appearances. During his time with the Blues, he would go on to become a League Cup finalist in 2001, a year before clinching promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.

Charlton Athletic was his next destination where he would taste relegation from the top flight before moving to Hull City in 2007, helping them to promotion from the Championship in his debut season.

He then went on to play for Burton Albion and Grimsby Town before making an unlikely switch to Icelandic side IBV Vestmannaeyjar in 2011.

It wasn’t long before he returned to England though, signing for Accrington Stanley before hanging up his boots in 2015 whilst at Scarborough.

One to Watch: Shaun Pearson

Skipper Shaun Pearson has played a vital role in Wrexham’s play-off charge this campaign.

The defender has helped the Dragons concede the second fewest amount of goals in the league whilst also posing a threat up the other end of the field too.

The 29-year-old, who joined Wrexham in 2017, has scored twice in his last two games as he equals Stuart Beavon’s goal tally of six, becoming the Dragons’ joint-top scorer this season.

Recent League Form:

Wrexham, who sit fifth, have won twice in their last five league games as they look to cement a play-off place.

A 3-1 loss at home to Barrow was quickly followed up by a 1-0 win over Maidstone United four days later. However, they fell to a defeat again in their next fixture, losing 1-0 away at Hartlepool United. They then found themselves on the receiving end of a 4-2 score-line a week later when they travelled to Ebbsfleet United. However, they go into tomorrow’s game in high spirits having won 3-1 at home to Braintree Town on Saturday.

The Dragons have bagged 52 goals and have the second-best defensive record in the league having only conceded 35, one more than leaders Leyton Orient. As for their away form, Wrexham have only managed to win seven out of their 21 games on the road this season.

Wrexham midfielder Nicky Deverdics spent two years with Barnet after signing for the club in 2008. The 30-year-old made 50 appearances in a Bees shirt, scoring three goals, before joining Blyth Spartans ahead of the 2010-11 season.
