Vanarama National League – Play-off eliminator
The Bees
Pre lockdown Darren Currie’s side were in a rich vein of form losing just one league game in 13 outings with four games on the teams above. Upon the season’s curtailment, the PPG method saw the Bees rightfully take 7th place and crucially the final play-off spot.
Currie’s side head to Yeovil Town in high spirits and will be looking to achieve the victory to move on to a semi-final clash with Notts County. Those chances were bolstered upon the return of striker Paul McCallum after his loan deal from Solihull Moors was extended for the play-offs. Currie also had depth in attacking positions with the return of Alfie Pavey and Shaquile Coulthirst from injury, not forgetting top scorer Simeon Akinola.
There is a nice mix of both experience and youth in the Bees ranks for the play off campaign and Currie will be hoping it’s the perfect mix for a successful play-off campaign.
The Opposition Gaffer: Darren Sarll
Sarll began his managerial career in 2006, taking charge of Stevenage’s reserve team before taking up coaching roles at Brentford and Rotherham United respectively.
He then returned to Stevenage in 2012, initially joining as Head of Youth before becoming a first-team coach three years later.
Following the sacking of then-manager Teddy Sheringham, Sarll took the reins on a temporary basis before clinching the job permanently in 2016 in a spell which stretched to 2018.
The 36-year-old then moved to Watford as Head of Academy but left after seven months in the role, before taking the helm at his current employers in the summer of 2019.
Last time we met: Barnet 1-0 Yeovil Town
We look all the way back to last August when we faced Yeovil Town on the opening day of the season. Simeon Akinola netted the only goal as we secured all three points.
