Team News:

Simeon Akinola is available for selection after recovering from the illness that ruled him out of the league game against Grimsby Town.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce is still unavailable for selection, along with Jean Louis Akpa Akpro, Curtis Weston, Richard Brindley and Ruben Bover.

Elliott Johnson and Dave Tarpey (both knee) are both still suffering from long-term injuries.

Last Time We Played in the Competition:

Last time Barnet featured in the competition they lost 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw away at Luton Town.

Benji Aghadiuno set Andre Blackman through racing down on goal only for him to be brought down by Luton ‘keeper James Shea.

Jack Taylor slotted home the penalty right into the bottom corner, but the lead wouldn’t last too long.

Ephron Mason-Clark’s pass went straight to Elliott Lee who was given time and space to curl a good strike past Craig Ross and tie up the game.

In the penalty shootout, using the new ABBA format, Elliott Lee stepped up first and scored before Jack Taylor was also successful.

David Tutonda stepped up next, but his was save by Shea. Craig Ross then saved Luke Berry’s shot before Jordan Cook scored to give Luton a 2-1 lead.

Fonguck and Shomotun both converted their efforts before Justin and Mpanzu did likewise for Luton. Santos stepped up to take the decisive penalty but fired well over the bar meaning the bonus point went Luton’s way.

Manager:

Wayne Burnett was most recently manager of Dagenham & Redbridge having been appointed on the 27th February 2013, but was made Tottenham Under 21s manager in June 2017 following the tragic passing of Ugo Ehiogu.

Wayne arrived at Dagenham in June 2009 working with previous manager John Still and also overseeing the Clubs future talent in the Academy.

Wayne initially moved into the management side of football with Fisher Athletic in 2004, winning the Southern League Division One East. He then joined Dulwich Hamlet but returned to Fisher for a second spell in May 2007. His previous appointment as manager was at Grays Athletic where he stayed for four months until February 2009.

In his first full season (2013/14) in charge at Dagenham, he guided the Club to a 9th place finish in Sky Bet League Two.

Dangerman:

Lively forward Kazaiah Sterling has been a regular goal-getter at different levels in recent years and currently has eight goals for the Under 21’s so far this season.

After missing the first couple of months of 2016-17 through injury, he came back to score five goals in 17 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League, seven in six in the FA Youth Cup, including a hat-trick against Stevenage.

He has represented England’s Under-17s and Under-18s.

Connections:

Shaquile Coulthirst graduated from the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy, making his first-team debut in December 2013, coming on for Roberto Soldado against Anzhi Makhachkala in the UEFA Europa League. He made his way to Barnet via Peterborough United in the summer of 2017 and is currently the clubs top goalscorer so far, this season.

Last Time Out:

Tottenham lost 4-3 away at AFC Wimbledon, sending the Dons through with a game to spare.

Shilow Tracey put Spurs 1-0 after 15 minutes, but Wimbledon equalised soon after, Toby Sibbick with a low header.

Spurs took the lead against after half an hour, Samuel Shashoua with the right-footed strike into the bottom corner. However, they were pegged be almost immediately again, Egil Kaja with a wonderful strike to put the sides level at the break.

Kazaiah Sterling put the away side 3-2 up just before the break, but again Wimbledon instantly equalised, Sibbick with his second of the game.

With the game looking to head to a penalty shootout, former Tottenham man Dean Parrett scored in stoppage time to give the home side all three points and send them through to the next round.
