Last Time We Met:

The last time Barnet met Luton was back in August in their second game of the season and it was one to remember for the Bees that’s for sure.

With the scores level at 0-0 going into second half stoppage time, a fine strike by midfielder Jack Taylor sealed the three points for the hosts on the 91st minute.

From 25 yards out, Taylor bent the ball round goalkeeper Marek Stech to give the Bees all three points.

Manager:

Nathan Jones took charge of the Hatters in January 2016, replacing John Still at the helm. The 44-year-old was previously a coach and assistant manager at his former playing clubs Brighton & Hove Albion and Yeovil Town, alongside Charlton Athletic.

Jones spent a year at Luton but failed to make an appearance before leaving in 1996. He did make a name for himself at Southend United, Brighton and Yeovil. After leaving the Hatters, the former defender went on to spend two years in Spain, playing for Numancia and Badajoz respectively.

Jones took charge at Kenilworth Road on a two-and-a-half year basis before penning a new three-and-a-half year contract in March of last year.

He took the job by storm after taking Luton out of a relegation battle in the latter stages of the 2015-16 season before finishing in the play-offs the following season. However, he couldn’t guide them to promotion, losing 6-5 on aggregate to Blackpool in the semi-final. Last season also saw Jones take the Hatters to the EFL Trophy semi-final and is now flying high with Luton this campaign, sitting second in the table.

Dangerman:

Midfielder Luke Berry has become a vital cog in the Luton side this season as they aim for automatic promotion. The former Cambridge United and Barnsley man arrived at Kenilworth Road last summer and has since made 39 appearances in all competitions this campaign, scoring eight goals, including a hat-trick against Stevenage in October.

With 38 total shots this season, he isn’t afraid to try his luck. The midfielder has scored with his left, his right and his head this season and the Bees’ back-line will have to be on high alert to make sure his unpredictability doesn’t prove costly.

Connections:

Hatters midfielder Jack Stacey spent over a month at the Hive during the 2015-16 season, on loan from Reading. The 21-year-old only featured twice for the Bees but has become a vital asset to Luton’s side this season.

Olly Lee joined Luton in 2015, two years after departing Barnet. The midfielder joined the Bees from West Ham and featured 11 times during the 2012-13 season before signing for Birmingham City.

Luton midfielder Luke Gambin joined the Hatters from Barnet in January 2017 after making over 100 appearances for the Bees, scoring 15 goals. The 25-year-old was also a part of our conference winning side in 2014-15. Gambin is currently on international duty with Malta and will miss the game.

Last Time Out:

The points were shared in Luton’s last encounter as they travelled to Rodney Parade last weekend to face Newport County.

It only took two minutes for the Exiles to break the dead-lock when Josh Sheehan was first to react to the rebound following Aaron Collins’ effort.

However, Luton equalised 21 minutes later when Dan Potts’ header proved too much for Joe Day and his goal meant the Hatters returned to Bedfordshire with a point to show for their efforts.
