The Opposition:
The Bluebirds will be more than happy with the start to their season as they currently sit on top of the pile with a game in hand on Bromley who sit level on points with them in second. The hosts have a number of talented players who have more than impressed so far this season which has helped in their ascent up the league.
Despite having lost seven games, Ian Evatt’s side have only drawn once and have taken three points in 12 fixtures this season, the most recent coming in an impressive 3-0 away win over Notts County who were a League Two side last year.
It is likely Barrow will prove to be a tough test for Darren Currie’s side who will hope to be able to kickstart a run of form that can see them climb back up the table once again.
The Gaffer: Ian Evatt
Ian Evatt, the central midfielder turned central defender, had a career spanning 19 years playing for teams such as: Derby County, QPR, Blackpool and Chesterfield and amassed over 500 appearances in that time.
Five years on from his return to Chesterfield where he had previously played earlier in his career, he was made caretaker manager of the side following the departure of Jack Lester but inevitably, his side were relegated. In June 2018, he was announced as the manager of the Bluebirds and officially retired in July 2019 after making an appearance, solicited by fans retweeting a tweet 1,000 times, in a friendly against his former side Blackpool United.
One to Watch: Scott Quigley
Forward Scott Quigley has played an important role in where Barrow currently sit in the table having scored 12 goal in his 16 appearances for the club. Quigley’s career started off at The New Saints before being brought by Blackpool United where a series of loan spells followed at Wrexham, Port Vale and Halifax Town.
This summer however, Barrow were able to secure the forward on a three-year-deal having impressed at other National League rivals. His style of play has been noted as someone who despite being 6 foot 4, has a lot of pace and prefers to play with the ball at his feet.
