Match Pack: Barnet 1-2 Bromley

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first chance fell to the visitors in the opening two minutes as the ball broke to Billy Bingham just inside the area but he dragged his shot wide of the left-hand post.

Up the other end, Ricardo Santos looped a header over the bar from Cheye Alexander’s corner as both sides look to get the opener in the first few minutes.

On the 10th minute, the Bees took the lead as Alexander found Josh Walker who fired past Ryan Huddart to score his third in as many matches.

Five minutes later Pavey nearly opened his account in an Amber shirt, but his towering header went inches over the crossbar. Further chances followed as Mauro Vilhete stretched to header David Tutonda’s cross but it went just over.

On 25 minutes, against the run of play, the visitors were level as Chris Bush’s glancing header went past Scott Loach and into the net for the equaliser.

The Bees almost took the lead again with 35 minutes on the clock as Pavey again beat his man to force Huddart into a superb stop to keep his side level.

The Ravens nearly took the lead five minutes before the break as Joe Kizzi’s in-swinging cross curled just wide of the upright. Then up the other end, Alexander’s fierce delivery beat everyone at forced Huddart into a smart stop.

The visitors should have taken the lead just two minutes into the second period, as Michael Cheek broke through on goal only to see Loach save well from his powerful effort.

The impressive Pavey was involved again as Vilhete sent him through on goal, but the Ravens ‘keeper was equal to our number nine’s effort from the corner of the box.

The Bees failed to deal with a Bromley set piece and were duly punished as Kizzi rose highest to nod into the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead.

Following the goal, Currie’s side looked to get back on level terms immediately and despite a number of decent crosses they just didn’t get the rub of the green.

With 10 minutes left on the watch, substitute Mason-Clark saw an effort deflect wide of the goal as the Bees tried desperately to find a crucial equaliser.

But it wasn’t to be for the Bees as they slipped to their fourth defeat of the season and only their second on home turf.
