Mark Byrne believes Barnet will get back to winning ways when they face Macclesfield Town at The Hive on Tuesday.

The Bees have now gone four games without a win and the Irish midfielder admits they only have themselves to blame.

However, Byrne has confidence in the side and he expects them to win a tough match tonight ahead of a second home match against Salisbury City on Saturday.

“It will be a tough game, we played them two years ago and they were a long ball team but now they get the ball down and play which I think will suit us.

“We will get the ball down and play too so it should be a really good match. Hopefully we can get the three points and take that into a second successive home match against Salisbury on the weekend.”

Byrne continued by highlighting the Bees’ inconsistency within matches, stating that to push on they need to stay focussed from the first minute to the final whistle.

“Recently we have been having a good half here and there but we haven’t put in a strong performance for the full 90 minutes. 

“We need to keep going to the final whistle and we need to make sure everyone is on it from start to finish.”

Jake Hyde will against miss out as he continues his recovery from injury but Byrne doesn’t believe the team’s recent poor form is due to the forward’s absence. 

“Jake is a very good player and he has already scored a lot of goals this season but we’re still scoring in his absence. 

“For me it is about what we do at the other end of the pitch because we keep giving away poor goals and it really has been error after error.”

Those errors cost the Bees on Saturday when they went down 3-1 away at Alfreton Town and Byrne admitted that Edgar Davids’ side deserved nothing from the match.

“It was a very disappointing game on Saturday and we were from comfortably beaten from start to finish.

“We started well but after that we weren’t ourselves and we need to make sure we get back to how we were playing because it is now four games since we came away with three points.”

However the midfielder refused to dwell on what he can’t change and instead looked ahead to tonight’s match where he feels the Bees will bounce back to winning ways. 

“The boys were obviously gutted following Saturday’s match but we had a talk and we know what we need to do.

“We need to get back to winning ways and we will do that today by securing three points against a very good team.”
