Carl Fletcher thanked the Barnet family following his departure from the club on Thursday 10th January.

The former FA Cup finalist spent just four months at The Hive but he leaves a lasting impression on all due to his excellent attitude, professionalism and influence. 

Speaking exclusively to BarnetFC.com, Fletcher thanked the players, coaching staff, the Chairman and the fans for their support, revealing he has an opportunity he simply cannot turn down. 

“I have got an opportunity that I cannot turn down but I appreciate everything Barnet Football Club has done for me. They have a superb bunch of lads and I really enjoyed my time at The Hive. 

“I would like to thank to thank the Chairman, Paul Fairclough, the coaching staff and everybody else for allowing me to come down and I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season.”

He added: “The fans were great, it is a real family club and the facilities are superb. They have a real hardcore set of supporters who come to every game and I’m sure they appreciate the transition the team has had to go through.

“Getting relegated last year wasn’t easy and moving to a new stadium is always a challenge but credit to the supporters because they are still fully behind the team.”

Fletch continued by tipping the Bees for play-off glory in May, stating that if they stick together there is no doubt they have the ability to achieve big things at Barnet and beyond.

“There is some real quality in the team and they have a lot of players who would easily be able to get into squads in higher divisions.

“It is all about sticking together and moving in the right direction. I have no doubt that Barnet will get into the play-offs this season and on their day they can beat anyone in the league.”

The former Wales international was unable to confirm whether or not his playing days were behind him but all will be revealed in due course and we wish him the very best of luck.  

“We will have to wait and see [when asked about his playing future]. 

“After two-years out it was tough to get back but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and a lot of praise has to go to Pete Friar the club physiotherapist and everyone else behind the scenes.

He continued: “I was lucky to get the opportunity to play for Barnet and I now have an opportunity I couldn’t turn down so I’m excited for the rest of my career and wherever it takes me.”
