Paul Fairclough would love to see Dani Lopez sign for Barnet FC and he states the club are doing all they can to make it happen.

Lopez has endured a frustrating second spell with the Bees due to a shoulder injury but he lit up The Hive yesterday with a majestic goal to secure a 1-0 win over Alfreton Town.

Speaking exclusively to BarnetFC.com Fairclough explained that Lopez is a class player who will get you results.

“That is as good a goal as you’re going to see. If that was on Match of the Day tonight we would all be waxing lyrical about it for weeks and weeks.

“I was a class goal from a class player and class players get you results and get you performances.”

The win over Alfreton could be Lopez’s final appearance for the Bees with his loan spell set to expire but Fairclough is hoping to see Lopez at The Hive again.

“It is not a secret that we would all love Dani to stay here and we are doing everything we can to make that happen.

“Obviously scoring the goal he did today isn’t going to help because other teams will look at that and think do we try and take him.”

The Director of Football continued by explaining that despite his impact he is yet to reach full fitness, hinting that there is a lot more to come.

“Another thing worth mentioning is that when he came to us and due to his injury Dani hasn’t been fully fit but he has still had an impact.

“I’m sure if we can keep him we will but it isn’t always as straight forward as that. There has been talks and we’re interested like everybody else.”

One player who could be on his way out of The Hive is Iffy Allen who is set to be loaned out during 2014.

“Iffy Allen will have to go out on loan. You mentioned his potential and you’ve hit he nail on the head but he needs to play games to reach the heights he can.

“George Sykes and Jamal Lowe both benefitted from going out on loan and now Iffy has to do the same to ensure we benefit from him in the future.”

Fairclough finished by looking back on a disappointing festive period that was rescued by starting and finishing with a win.

“The Christmas period was disappointing for all Bees supporters but I mentioned in my programme notes that all of those results were accountable.

“The second-half against Luton at The Hive was fantastic but we got nothing from it. Then we had two sendings off against Salisbury and the farce against Luton on New Year’s Day.”

He continued: “They were all accountable and we needed to pick up points but we got three against Hyde and we have somewhat rescued it with three points against Alfreton.”
