Edgar Davids admitted that despite the positives there is much to improve upon as Barnet prepare to take on Southend United on Tuesday evening. 

The Bees secured another point at home to Rochdale on Saturday but despite dominating much of the match they failed to take advantage. 

Davids is hoping that come Tuesday his side improve upon their tactical play, take their chances and build upon a clean sheet.

“I thought we had some great spells in the first-half, we also had a few in the second, but tactically we did not keep our shape well and we could have done much better.

“That said we kept a clean sheet and we created some good opportunities which is pleasing so on we go to Tuesday.”

For a second consecutive match the Bees will be at home and Davids refused to underestimate the value of a good home advantage.

“It was a very important point against Rochdale and it is very important that you have a good record at home which we have.

“These things are very good for the team’s confidence and it is just one of positives we can take from Saturday’s match.”

Andy Yiadom had the best opportunity of the match when he headed against the crossbar but the head-coach admitted he did not think it crossed the line.

“It was a difficult chance and I do not think that it was over the line, I have also heard that it was not so we have to accept that and move on.

“Maybe Jake Hyde could have played the ball along the ground instead of in the air because I believe there was a better opportunity that way.”

Dani Lopez put in an impressive display on his debut and Bondz N’Gala also caught the eye on his first start for the club, Davids is hoping their form continues against the Blues.

“I think that Dani did very well especially in the second-half and we will see on Tuesday if he can keep it up.

“Bondz also did well at the back, defensively he was very solid and he did well on the ball but like everybody there is room for improvement.”

One man who is not likely to feature against the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy finalists is John Oster who is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

“John Oster has a hamstring injury and we will monitor it on a daily basis, it could take one week or it could take two, but we do not know the full extent yet.

“We are also going to look into Curtis Weston’s injury and access him before Tuesday’s match against Southend United.”
