Barnet have today signed 20-year old central midfielder Olly Lee, son of the ex-England international Rob Lee.

Olly has previously seen League 2 action with Dagenham & Redbridge and Southend United when on loan from his parent club West Ham United.

Head Coach Mark Robson after the signing today, "I’m very pleased to welcome Olly to Barnet. He’s a very good footballer who is comfortable on the ball and has a wide range of passing at his disposal. 

"He’s also got bags full of energy – he’s up and down the pitch all the time! I believe he’ll fit into our system here perfectly. I’m delighted to have him."

When asked how he felt on signing Olly had this to say to barnetfc.com, " I’m Delighted! I’m happy that it’s all been done and dusted as I’ve been talking to Mark for a while, which has got me excited to be joining the club. 

"I’m just looking forward to stepping over that white line tomorrow when pre-season training starts and showing everybody what I can do."

As a former West Ham player Olly feels the experience will hold him in good stead,"At West Ham they teach you how to play football properly – passing, movement, other areas that help you become a better all-round footballer. Obviously, with the club’s style of football they are looking to introduce here, growing up at West Ham will definitely help that and help me fit into Barnet’s style."

"It also makes a big difference to play under the likes of Gianfranco Zola and alongside Scott Parker, who both had a massive influence on my career."

How would Olly describe his style of play?"I like to think of myself as a ball-playing midfielder. Hopefully I can chip in with a few goals and a few assists too!"

Barnetfc.com then asked, what attracted Olly to join the Bees? "Well, the first thing was the Head Coach, Mark. As I said, I’ve known him for a while, from my time at West Ham, and I know I can learn a lot from him. The style of football he is talking about playing is something that really appeals to me and that suits my style of play. I’ve also seen the facilities that are there at The Hive and to train there everyday is something else that shows me that I can progress as a footballer and do well here."

And Olliy’s hopes for the season ahead, "I definitely think we can push for promotion, why not?! With a Head Coach like Mark, with all the enthusiasm he’s got; plus if you make a good start and go on a run anything can happen! I’ve seen it before – all clubs will be looking to make the best possible start, so if we can keep it up then we can definitely aim for a play-off place. Then we’ll see…It won’t be easy, but I think we’ve got enough talent in the squad to make something good happen for all the fans and everyone associated with the club."
