Barnet Blog #31

Where else to start but to say that it was great to see Martin Allen back in the Barnet dugout for the convincing win over Hereford! I saw an article from the non league paper in the Kidderminster vs Barnet programme up at Aggborough which stressed how important it was for managers in the lower leagues to have had experience of non league football.
You only have to look at the job John Still is doing with runaway leaders Luton at Kenilworth Road to see that. Martin Allen certainly has a wealth of experience and is a manager with a proven record at this level with this very club.
Allen certainly managed to get Keanu Marsh-Brown playing like we all know he can. He had an excellent game on Saturday, scoring directly from a corner before curling in another superb effort to make it 2-0. No surprise to see him voted man of the match for his efforts.
The only surprise has been that KMB has not maintained his thrilling goal scoring form from earlier in the season. Let’s hope Saturday’s brace is the catalyst for a strong end to the season for both Marsh-Brown and Barnet.
The game against Cambridge will not be easy but with other teams having games in hand Barnet must try to pick up all the points they can in their remaining seven league fixtures.
Five of our remaining games are against teams in the play off mix. Teams in the top half of the table will continue to take points off each other as the season reaches a conclusion.
It is still all to play for. Barnet have shown that they are perfectly capable of going on a run of winning games and that is exactly what we need to do for the rest of the league campaign.
