MATCH PREVIEW | BARNET FC V NEWPORT COUNTY | EMIRATES FA CUP SECOND ROUND REPLAY

Barnet are set to host Newport County in the replay of last week’s 1-1 draw in the 2nd round of the FA Cup.

The winner will face Eastleigh in round 3 after they knocked League One side Reading out of the cup.

So, what’s the Buzz?
Since the first game against The Exiles, Barnet recorded a 4-0 win over Maidstone United in the FA Trophy, seeing them through to the next round.

The win included a brace from Nicke Kabamba, as well as a goal from Dale Gorman directly from a corner. The win is bound to have given Dean Brennan’s side some confidence going into the FA Cup replay tomorrow, with the manager saying, “I thought the performance on Saturday was back to the standards we’ve set ourselves.”

Opposition Report
Since last week, Newport played Tranmere Rovers away from home in League One in a 2-1 defeat, conceding an 88th-minute winner.

After the game, Newport County manager Graham Coughlan reflected on his side’s performance, saying, “It was a game of two halves, we were very good in the first half… the second half I don’t know what happened to us, we lost our composure and ability to pass”.

One to Watch: Will Evans
Evans takes the One to Watch category once again this week, with the 26-year-old adding to his goal tally after scoring against Tranmere.

This was a classic poacher’s goal, with the ball coming into his chest as the second ball after a free-kick. On the edge of the six-yard box, Evans was able to bring it down and finish near post.

In the Dugout: Graham Coughlan
Regarding the game against Barnet last week, Coughlan explained that Newport were aware of how good The Bees can be, saying “We knew they would be good with the ball.”

That said, he does think his side will be more prepared tomorrow night than last time out. Following a tough spell of injuries this season, Coughlan’s side can see light at the end of the tunnel, adding, “I do think we’ll be fresher and have one or two more options”.

Coughlan then went on to emphasise his side’s ability to defend set pieces- with Barnet needing 16 corners until Danny Collinge eventually scored for The Bees.
