The Bees scored a second half leveller to ensure things ended honours even at The Hive London against Tottenham Hotspur U23s.
Â
The Bees first chance came on nine minutes as a cross from Antonis Vasiliou wasn’t cleared by Spurs, before both Adam Marriott and Mitch Brundle saw shots blocked in quick succession.
Â
Meanwhile, Spurs had their first opening on 15 minutes as Romaine Brundle won the ball halfway up the pitch, but could only place his effort straight at the Trialist Goalkeeper.Â
Â
Harry Kewell’s side were mighty unlucky not to go ahead just after twenty minutes, as Joe Widdowson flicked a long throw in goalwards, but his effort dropped inches wide of the far post.
Â
As half-time approached Spurs nearly found the opener as Harvey White sent a 25-yard effort inches wide of the post. The Lilywhites went oh so close again moments later as Mundle sent an effort just over the crossbar with the ‘keeper stranded.Â
Â
The visitors did poke themselves in front just before the whistle, as Mundle tapped home from six yards after the Trialist ‘keeper had made a tremendous save from Malichai Fagan-Walcott.Â
Â
The Bees started the second half stronger and found an equaliser ten minutes after the restart, as Vasiliou got to the byline before squaring into the box for Trialist B who slotted home from eight yards out.Â
Â
Kian Flanagan almost made an immediate impact from the bench as he found space in the area to hit a curling effort that was destined for the back of the net only for a goal-saving block by a Spurs defender.Â
Â
There was a welcome return to action for Harry Taylor as he played the final 15 minutes of the match, making his first appearance since the training ground game with Millwall.Â
Â
Kewell’s men almost completed the turnaround with 12 minutes left on the watch, as Josh Payne had an effort hacked off the goalline after Trialist A played a fantastic cross into the box which caused havoc for the visitors defence.Â
Â
Mason-Clark was next to go close for the Bees, as his snapshot was bravely blocked by the Spurs backline after a long throw-in fell the wingers’ way.Â
Â
The Trialist Goalkeeper made a brilliant one handed stop from White after he lined up a powerful long range effort after a free-kick had been taken quickly.Â
