Reckless Guide | Solihull Moors

SOLIHULL MOORS

The Vanarama National League
Saturday 16th February 2019
Kick Off: 15:00
Stadium: The ATG Stadium, Damson Parkway, Solihull, B92 8PS

Telephone: 0121 705 6770
Club Colours: Blue & Yellow
Nickname: Moors

Key Personnel:
The current Gaffer at Solihull is former England international goalkeeper Tim Flowers. Tim won 11 caps for his country and played notably for Blackburn Rovers, where he won a Premier League medal in 1995, Southampton, Leicester City and Wolves. He has previously managed at Stafford Rangers and Northampton Town.

Brief Directions by Road:
Approx two hour drive from Barnet. Take The M1 onto Junction 17 taking the M45 signposted Coventry South. After approx 9 miles pick up the A45 going through numerous roundabouts stay on the A45 until you see the Birmingham Airport Travelodge and Holiday Inns to your right where you turn left onto Damson Parkway (signposted Land Rover Damsonwood) proceed to the roundabout (you will see the ground on your right) turn back on yourself for the car park.

Car Parking:
There is a car park at the ground for early visitors (£3.00) if that is full then street parking is available locally but fairly limited.

Directions by Train:
It is about a 2 mile walk to the ground from the station but the X12 Bus is your friend. Bearing in mind the lack of refreshment stations on offer near the ground the town centre is your best bet pre-match with a mini cab made for sharing!

Eating and Drinking Locally:
The social club welcomes visiting fans and can be found behind the main stand.

As previously mentioned there are very few watering holes in the vicinity I’m afraid. The Wetherspoons close to the station is The White Swan in Station Road. The Flute and Flagon on Station Parade is another option or the Revolution in also Station Road.

Further afield the Mason’s Arms 173 High Street gets my vote but is a bit of a walk.

Ground Description:
The ground is developing every season as at the moment modest main stand is basically seating perched in front of the changing rooms and social club. A viewing area above the seats is for Officials, Corporate and Press. The Draintech Terrace behind one goal is a fully covered terrace – in structure, it resembles the Hive Bees Terrace. The Damson Lane end opposite is a mixture of seating and terrace. The open Airport Side is opposite the main stand and currently has a “Colin Montgomery” temporary seating block set up to one side of the halfway line. The capacity is around 4,300.

Rivals:
A few familiar names for more senior Bees fans – Redditch United, Leamington, Tamworth and Nuneaton Borough.

Admission Prices:
If segregation is in force we will be accommodated on the Draintech Terrace.

Adults: £15.00 Concessions £10.00 Under 12’s free with paying Adult.

Our Last Meeting & Memories:
I believe the only time we have played Solihull is earlier in this season at the Hive when two Wes Fonguck goals won it for the Bees.

Celebrity Watch:
TV Presenter Richard Hammond was born here, Actress Felicity Kendall, who most young boys in the mid 70’s had dreams about, lived here as did glam rock axeman from Slade, Dave Hill. West Ham Utd’s Baroness Karren Brady lived here too.
