Rossi Eames refused to entertain the idea of Barnet being hard done by in a 3-1 defeat at Luton Town on New Year’s Eve but was pleased with much of his side’s display.

Alan Sheehan put the Hatters ahead with a 30th-minute free-kick following a bright start from the hosts.

But Barnet’s leveller, seven minutes later via the head of Bira Dembele, was fully deserved.

However, two goals in seven second-half minutes from Cameron McGeehan and Alex Gilliead ensured the Bees ended 2016 with a rare away defeat.

Speaking afterwards, Eames said: "The performance for the majority of the game was good. 

"There are certain areas and standards we’ve set ourselves this season and also last year where we could have done better.

"There are parts we need to improve on but, like I’ve said before, it’s a process. The players have been fantastic and I cannot question their commitment, attitude or desire. 

"It was an end-to-end game where we created numerous chances. To be fair to Luton they scored three fantastic finishes."

Both sides created plenty of chances and Barnet continued to work Hatters keeper Christian Walton to the death.

However, interim head coach Eames sidestepped the notion Barnet had been hard done by at Kenilworth Road.

"You can say we’re hard done by but, at the end of the day, we have to prevent the goal from going in," he explained.

"As a collective, Henry and myself included, we will dissect it and analyse the game. It’s down to us to make sure this doesn’t happen again."
