Barnet manager Martin Allen is looking forward to tomorrow night’s friendly against his old club Brentford, and hopes that the Bees’ supporters are too.

Speaking to the club’s official website about preparations for Barnet’s fourth friendly at The Hive, he said:

“I’ve picked a strong squad of sixteen players for tomorrow night’s game, and those that are not included in that squad will be training tomorrow afternoon. There are a couple of knocks which are minor so obviously we need to protect those players.

“I thought that the four young players that featured on Sunday were all terrific. Yes, the game had lost its impetus but we have definitely got something to work on for the future there, and there are a few more that could push their way into the frame.

Allen also admitted that he is looking forward to testing his team against the club where he spent two years, first saving Brentford from relegation before guding them to two top-six finishes in League One:

“I’m hoping that Brentford will bring a big following for what is an exciting and special London derby for me.

“The game will obviously be a tough test against a team that have just been promoted to the Championship and are spending fortunes, but if we continue to play with the same energy and enthusiasm then I’m sure that it will be a good game to watch.”

Allen went on to praise the Barnet fans for their backing at the weekend, and emphasised how much of a crucial role their support could play during the season ahead:

“I would like to thank the supporters for their efforts during’s Sunday’s game against Luton Town.

“After such a good performance during the first half I thought we were pretty average second half but the players, like the supporters, keeping going even though we had made several changes and put many of our young boys on.

“The energy and enthusiasm of the supporters is important as we try to build for the future, and I look forward to seeing as many of them as possible tomorrow night.”
