Barnet manager Martin Allen spoke to the club’s official website this afternoon, and admitted that he is looking forward to facing Bristol Rovers in the Bees’ first home game of the season at The Hive on Tuesday night, in a game that promises to be a tough test for his side:

“Of course, after Saturday’s outstanding result and very good performance we are all looking forward to tomorrow’s game against Bristol Rovers, the pre-season favourites to get promoted from the Conference back to the Football League.

“I went down to Bristol Rovers last Friday night to watch them play Coventry and they played very, very well. They played a good style of football which was very pleasing on the eye.

“With their amazing supporters and the backing of their fans, I am sure that come the end of the season they are going to be right up there in the mix.”

Martin was delighted with the way that his summer signings, all of whom started at the weekend against Chester, performed in their first game for the Bees, but revealed that he is not ruling out the possibility of making some changes to the line-up for the game against Rovers:

“All the players are fit and well after the weekend with no injuries, aches, pains or strains. We may introduce fresh legs for the game because there are several players on the bench and in the stand that can have a real impact at this moment in time with our progression and development to help make sure that all of us move forward together as a club.  

“The squad that we have now with the arrival of Sam Togwell and Lee Cook gives us much better balance and gives me the opportunity to make changes despite a good win, which is something that I am going to sleep on overnight.”

Having enjoyed Barnet’s 5-0 win over Chester on the opening day of the season, Martin says that focus is now entirely on Tuesday night, as the team look to continue their winning start:

“We are putting Saturday behind us. We know that Bristol Rovers will be a very tough game and that we will have to be at our very best for tomorrow night’s match.

“Saturday only gave us three points on the board, and we need to try and keep extending it by pushing for as many wins as we can possibly get, starting tomorrow night.”
