Jake Hyde believes Barnet will beat Wycombe Wanderers and Northampton to secure their Npower League Two survival.
The forward scored both of Barnet’s goals in Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat to Torquay United despite starting from the substitute bench.
Speaking post-match Hyde cut a frustrated figure but he remained upbeat and insisted the Bees will do all they can to survive.
“It has been proven in this league that you cannot give away free-kicks in dangerous areas. If you do you will be punished and that is what happened against Torquay.
“We will go away now and work hard on the training ground. The belief in the changing room is still unbelievable. We still have to matches to go and although Tuesday was disappointing we have enough to win the last two games and
stay up.”
Luke Gambin also came off the bench in the 3-2 and like Hyde he made a big improvement to the Bees’ attack.
“We created a lot of chances and I think Luke came on and made a big impact. He is a threat and he always gets at his man and creates problems.
“He always gets balls in the box and as a centre-forward I love that. We have missed Ricky Holmes but Luke has stepped up and done a great job.”
Harry Crawford started in place of Hyde and although the forward was disappointed not to start he immediately focussed on how he could make an impact from the bench.
“Personally it is disappointing not to start. As a footballer you want to play every game but when I am called upon I will come on and give 100% for the team.
“Unfortunately two goals were not enough and we will have to go again on the weekend. Despite the result there were positives we can take. We created a lot more than we have done in the last few weeks.
“At the moment I am very frustrated and very angry. We are in a dogfight and we needed to win but we will stick together and win the game on Saturday.”
The forward has now notched 13 league goals this season and he hopes to add a couple more in two successive wins before the end of the season.
“It is always nice to score goals as a centre-forward but at the same time if it does not mean anything it is pretty heartbreaking. Last night my goals meant nothing because we lost the game.
“However, I am a player with confidence and I have faith in myself that if I get a chance I will take it. Hopefully on Saturday we will create a few chances and if I play I will put them away.”
The Bees host Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday in the last ever match at Underhill. Hyde believes a packed out stadium will provide the Bees with an extra boost in a game they simply have to win.
“The fans are always fantastic wherever we are but if there are 5,000 people in Underhill on Saturday it will lift us even more.
“We are going to need it as well because there are only two games left and it is out of our hands. We need to secure as many points as we can.
“All the boys are well up for the match now and we are going to go out and prove that we are too good to be near the bottom of this league let alone go down.”
Hyde added: “We need a minimum of four points but in my eyes we have to get all six. I don’t think the teams around us are good enough to get all six but it would be nice not to rely on other results to ensure our safety.
“That means we have to win both games and that is what we are going to do!”
