GAMBIN BUZZING TO BE BACK

Luke Gambin was back at The Hive today to start his preparation for the 2013/14 season.
Although it is a few weeks before the first-team report for training the winger opted to train with the youth-team to keep fresh and get a head start.
Speaking to barnetfc.com the youngster revealed his excitement ahead of pre-season, whilst admitting it had been a summer of reflection.
“It is good to get back moving and get a ball at your feet, it is all good preparation for pre-season which I am very excited about.”
He continued: “It was important that we went away and relaxed. We couldn’t just dwell on the disappointment of last season. We needed to focus on how we’re going help the club get back up.
“It is of course just as important to reflect on what went wrong and I know some of the boys must have done a lot of thinking over the summer. It will be good for the team to get back together and start training again.”
Gambin also hailed the work taking place behind the scenes that has led to many of the clubs key players staying at the club.
“It is great that we have managed to keep the core of the team together, especially for a young player like myself.
“Familiar faces are great to see and to have players like Graham Stack stay at the club is great news. I think it is going to be a very good season for the club.”
Edgar Davids also committed his future to the Bees and although Gambin was slightly surprised by the news he admitted it will only benefit the club moving forward.
“It did surprise me a little but it is great news for the club both on and off the pitch. It is a real boost.
“It gives us a great platform to get back into the Football League and like I said it will help the club moving forward in many different areas.”
The 20-year-old’s emergence is just one positive the Bees can take into the new season but he admits the hard work has just begun if he hopes to cement his place in Davids’ side.
“Hopefully I can pick up where I left off. That means I need to keep working hard and prove myself to the management on a day to day basis.
“If I do this I will get opportunities to play and from there I will hopefully be able to play consistency which will be really good for me.”
The Bees will face three opponents at The Hive during pre-season including Ipswich Town and MK Dons and Gambin simply can’t wait.
“It is going to be very exciting and playing in the new stadium will make it even more special.
“I’ve seen some of the boys for a catch up and they are all well, they are enjoying relaxing and seeing their families but like me they can’t wait to get back to work.
“Everyone is raring to go and we have a point to prove!”
