August 9th 2005. Before tonight that was the last time Barnet had won a Tuesday night away fixture in the league, but at last, the curse is over!

After eight-years of Tuesday night misery on the road Barnet secured their first Tuesday night away league win with an efficient 2-0 win over Skrill Premier strugglers Dartford. 

The dismal Tuesday night run had been ongoing since a 1-2 win again Northampton Town but first-half goals from Keanu Marsh-Brown and Luisma Villa ensured a comfortable win for the Bees.

Two changes were made to the side who lost 2-1 at Grimsby Town with KMB and Luke Gambin coming in for Edgar Davids and Keiron Cadogan.

The home side, who have now lost seven matches on the bounce, created the first chance of the match when captain Elliot Bradbrook volleyed straight at Stack from eight-yards.

The Bees initially struggled to find a foothold in the game but with 18 minutes played the returning KMB lashed home his ninth goal of the season from a tight angle after latching onto a neat Ahmed Abdulla pass.

In the eleven minutes that followed relatively little happened but with 30 minutes on the clock the Bees doubled their advantage when Villa curled a 25-yard free-kick past Paul Smith.

On 41 minutes things got even worse for the home side when Jason Prior limped off the pitch to be replaced by Alex woodyard. 

With just three minutes of the second period played the Bees could have sealed the win had it not been for a superb stop from Smith who just tipped Abdulla’s wonderfully controlled volley to safety.

Another massive positive for the Bees came in the form of Luke Gambin whose performance was outstanding from start to finish.

The tenacious winger was desperately unlucky not to get on the scoresheet curling an effort onto the post with 62 minutes played before smashing a 35-yard strike off the crossbar just three minutes later.

The Darts had a two-minute flurry midway through the second-half but Stack’s balance denied them first as he stretched to deny Bradbrook with David Stephens clearing the ball off the line from the resulting corner.

Barnet responded emphatically with substitute Cadogan almost adding a third with an impressive turn and shot which was pushed to safety by Smith.

In truth the goalkeeper’s inspired performance deserved more than a 2-0 defeat and he came to Dartford’s rescue once more on 72 minutes when he swept KMB’s wicked shot over the crossbar.

Very little happened in the final 15 minutes but none of the travelling Barnet supporters cared one bit as the dreaded Tuesday night curse ended on a freezing night in Kent.
