Barnet came out of the game at Fleetwood Town on Saturday with some plaudits, but crucially they returned from their 500 mile round trip without any points to show for their efforts.

Tonight’s game gives the Bees an opportunity to secure their first win of the season with former favourite John O’Flynn likely to lead the Exeter City attack.

After the Rotherham United game last week there was some momentum that was carried into the game at the Highbury Stadium and the Bees performed well either side of the first-half dismissal of Graham Stack.

Before the penalty decision the Bees had got themselves into a position where three points was a definite possibility, but after the home side equalised from the spot kick, the Bees put in a sound display to try and come back with at least a point.

The applause at the final whistle was evidence of the application the players had shown and of an awareness of how narrow the margin between a much-needed victory and the actual defeat was. 

As Head Coach Mark Robson has said, “We had taken momentum from the Rotherham game into the game at Fleetwood.

“The players were very confident in the build-up to this match and that confidence was boosted by our early goal.

“Overall I feel that the there are many positives from the last two matches that we can carry forward into tonight’s match.”

Skipper Jon Fortune, who was not involved on Saturday due to the imminent arrival of tiny footsteps in his household added, “Tonight we play a team that have started the season really well and are flying high in the table, but if we play like we did last week at home, then we have a good chance of getting something from the match.”

Striker Ismail Kamara is very unlikely to be involved following a dislocated shoulder injury he sustained on Saturday which is disappointing in so many ways as he cut an impressive figure in his cameo display as a late substitute.

On a more positive front however, Andy Yiadom and Mark Byrne looked very enthusiastic when they were warming up as substitutes on Saturday and must be chomping at the bit to be part of a starting XI.
