WARREN FINDS A HOME

Barnet FC have this evening made their second signing of the day and can announce that 19-year-old midfielder Freddie Warren has joined the club. Freddie was previously with Charlton Athletic.

On signing Freddie told barnetfc.com, " I’m pleased. It’s good to come to a new club and get a fresh start. I want to show people what I can do. All I’m thinking about is playing as many league games as I can."

How would Freddie describe himself as a footballer? "I’m a mixed bag, really. I’m a bit of battling midfielder, who likes a tackle, but at the same time I have a creative side. I’m quite strong and I have a lot of energy, so could play either box-to-box or as a holding midfielder. Either would suit me fine, but it’s up to the Head Coach where he wants to utilise me."

"Charlton was a good environment and one of the things I learnt from there was how to approach all my training and matches with a professional attitude. I was captain at every level, up to the First Team, so that is something I will take with me for the rest of my career."

Freddie adds that, "I’ve known Mark Robson from my time at Charlton, which was a big draw. Also, Barnet is a club that has a reputation for bringing through youth players and give them a go in the first team, so obviously that is something I want to aim for. It also helps that I know some of the lads here already, such as Jordan Brown. That should help me settle in quickly."

Has Freddie set a target for the Bees this season? "Push as far up the table as possible. I think mid-table is a good level to start off with. It’s a young, talented team and everyone has a positive outlook, so you never know how things will go, but we’re all excited to get the season underway and with hard work, and results going our way, you never know…
