SAVILLE SIGNS FOR THE BEES AGAIN

Left-sided defender and enthusiastic tweeter Jack Saville today put pen to paper on a new contract committing himself to Barnet FC following on from his successful periods with the club last season when he made 14 starts, with three appearances from the bench.

Jack was so keen to tell the football world that he would be wearing amber and black stripes next season that he used a tweet to make the announcement and was the first to make the news public.

"I want to play more games, get that experience and raise my profile. I want to do well here and hopefully give the fans something to smile about."

Does Jack have any targets for next season, for himself and for the team? "Well, not to finish near the bottom! I believe we can finish mid-table this year and use that as a platform. We have a positive manager who will be a great influence on the lads, so I think we can go on from there."

"Last season was a big step for me as I played a number of games and I got a lot of experience. That’s what’s important for me – to gain as much experience as possible."

How does Jack reflect on the closing stages of last season? "To be honest, the last day of last season was the best day of my life! It was something new for me that I’d never experienced before, and it was definitely nerve-wracking, but when that final whistle went and we were all celebrating with the fans it was an extraordinary feeling! To see them all celebrating with us really made me want to come back…just hopefully not to be repeating the same thing this year!

With the popular defender having other options what prompted Saville to sign for Barnet? "I really like the place! I like the staff, I like the fans – everything about it. It’s a good platform for me to build on here."

However the 21-year old took time off from tweeting to tell barnetfc.com, "I was pleased to sign. Obviously, I’m getting more and more familiar with the place since I joined last season and it’s a nice club to be at. The facilities are very good and from speaking to Mark Robson he seems like a coach who has a real love for the game and I like the style of football he is talking about playing."
