Match Report | Barnet FC 1-1 Norwich City

Barnet FC opened pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Championship side Norwich City at The Hive.

Barnet FC manager Dean Brennan named two starting XIs for The Bees opening pre-season game. Each XI plays a half of football. David Wagner named a strong Norwich XI featuring the likes of Tim Krul, Ashley Barnes, Onel Hernandez, and Marcelino Nunez. 

Barnet had the first chance of the game. Nicke Kabamba got his head on the end of a cross, but unfortunately, his header didn’t have enough power to test Tim Krul.

Minutes later, Harry Pritchard had the ball in the back of the net, but the flag was raised for offside. 

Norwich then went through on goal but were denied by an excellent block from Ben Coker.

Norwich opened the scoring on the half-hour mark through Johnathan Rowe. A low-driven strike found its way past Laurie Walker.

That goal didn’t damage The Bees confidence, and the home side came close again when Harry Pritchard found himself one-on-one with Tim Krul. Pritchard couldn’t keep his shot down, and his effort went over the bar.

The Bees did level the score after 38 minutes. The cross was directed into the Norwich box, and Marvin Armstrong leaped the highest and sent a bullet header into the top corner of the Norwich net.

After a number of changes for both teams, Norwich started the second half the brightest. An early chance was dragged wide by the Norwich forward, yards away from goal.

Barnet again had the ball in the back of the net, and again it was flagged for offside. Sam Barratt this time with the ball in the back of the net.

Norwich were presented with another great chance to retake the lead, but the forwards were denied by Sam Beard’s block.

Trialist made a great save to deny Abu Kamara from close range after the ball was played across the face of goal to the Norwich forward.

The final chance fell to Barnet, who hit the crossbar in the final few moments of the game.
