Barnet will look to extend their lead at the top of the table when Dean Brennan’s side welcomes Altrincham FC to The Hive this Saturday (9th September,15:00 KO).
So, What’s the Buzz?
The last 7 days have been excellent for The Bees. They were victorious on Saturday for the 5th time this season in just 7 games but this one was special, beating local rivals Boreham Wood away from home with a late headed goal from Adebola Oluwo which sent the 816 Barnet fans who made the short trip to Meadow Park into raptures. Dean Brennan acknowledged the brilliant support, stating the victory “was for them” but there were more reasons for Bees fans to be excited this week, with the announcement of new signing Connor Stevens on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has great experience at this level, spending time at Boreham Wood where they achieved new heights playing at Premier League clubs in the form of Bournemouth and Everton in their FA Cup run in 2022 and has even worked with Brennan before when Wealdstone won the National League South in 2020. Bees’ fans will hope that that relationship could lead to another title win this season.

Opposition Report
Altrincham has made a great start to the season when you compare it to last season’s campaign which was a difficult one, conceding the 3rd most goals and finishing 17th but having only lost once this campaign, in their last game at home to Bromley, Altrincham will be looking to get close to the successes they had at the start of the 80’s where they won the National League twice in 1980 and 1981. The Robins have continued to have goals in their games, scoring 13 and conceding 12 with 0 clean sheets for either them or their opponents so Bees fans can look forward to hopefully another goal fest.
One to Watch: Regan Linney
Regan Linney has been a star in his short spell at Altrincham. The 26-year-old can play across the front 3 and scored an impressive 10 goals and assisted 1 in just 24 appearances for the club after signing from FC United in February 2023. After 4 goals and 1 assist in just 6 games this season, Barnet will have to be at their best to stop Linney from continuing his red-hot form.
In the Dugout: Phil Parkinson
Phil Parkinson has overseen The Robins since 2017 following a successful spell at his former club, Nantwich Town FC. His achievements at the club include promotion to the National League in 2020 via the playoffs, a semifinal appearance in the FA Trophy last campaign, and a Cheshire Cup final appearance in 2023 as well.
