The M27 eventually becomes the A31 which is where you should be until you reach the A35 – signposted Dorchester and Weymouth.

Follow the A35 until you can turn left onto the A354 – signposted Weymouth. When you reach the first roundabout into Weymouth turn right (3rd exit), following the signs for the Town Centre.

At the next roundabout, turn right (3rd exit) following the signs for ‘Football Ground’ and ‘Bridport’. After about a one mile you will see the floodlights where you turn right at the roundabout for the entrance to the ground.

BRIEF DIRECTIONS BY TRAIN

Trains are available to Weymouth Station from London Waterloo and will take around three hours.

Weymouth Station is a 40-minute walk from the stadium but there are likely to be taxis available.

CAR PARKING

Car parking will be available at The Bob Lucas Stadium for £2.

GROUND DESCRIPTION

The Bob Lucas Stadium is made up of three sturdy covered terraces and a seated main stand which is known as the Marlboro Restaurant Stand.

The ground also has some ‘old school’ floodlights which can be seen from a long way away.

EAT AND DRINK

The best pubs are to be found in the pedestrian shopping area at the north end of the Esplanade. I recommend the Black Dog in St Mary’s Street which is very close to the Pavilion Theatre.

The Ship on the Quayside also comes highly recommended, especially for those who wish to sample the Cheddar Valley Cider. There are no pubs close to the ground as the stadium is on the outskirts of town.

Hit the seafront for just about every style of eating including shellfish bars, fish & chips, candy floss, toffee apples and hot ring doughnut stalls.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS AND MEMORIES

Our most recent visit was in May 2021 when Ben Richards-Everton and Tomi Adeloye were on target in a 2-0 win behind closed doors. The Bees were forced to finish the match with 10-men after Anthony Wordsworth was sent off.

CONNECTIONS

Cliff Akurang, Everton Carr, Charlie Clough, Peter Guthrie, Jake Hyde, Bondz N’Gala and Wayne Purser are players who have been associated with both clubs.

CELEBRITY WATCH

You should always feel safe crossing the promenade in Weymouth as the original Green Cross Code man Dave Prowse was born here.

St Paul’s Cathedral designer Sir Christopher Wren owned the seafront house which has now been modernised into the Leam Hotel.

Comedians Alan Carr and Andy Parsons, Premiership Referee Paul Durkin and former Miss World Lesley Langley all come from these parts.

Buy tickets HERE.

Enjoy the match, Reckless

Take the A556 signposted Manchester Airport. Pick up the M56 – still signposted Airport – and exit at its Junction 6, taking the A538 signposted Altrincham and Hale Barns.

You will now be on Hale Road where you will pass the Ringway Golf Club. At the traffic lights that cross with the A5144, carry straight on taking the third right into Westminster Road. This becomes Bancroft Road and then Moss Lane for the ground on your right.

BRIEF DIRECTIONS BY TRAIN

Trains from London Euston to Manchester are incredibly quick these days – just over two hours. You will then need to exit at Junction 5 signposted Eastleigh.

Rather confusingly you will see the stadium to your left, but continue on as there is no left turn into Stoneham Lane from this direction. When you reach a roundabout go back on yourself and when you reach the Concorde Club on your left turn, you will see the stadium on your right.

Eastleigh have recommended away supporters to park at the Concorde Club – SO50 9HQ – which is a five-minute walk from the ground, at a cost of £5 per car.

BRIEF DIRECTIONS BY TRAIN

The closest station to the stadium is Southampton Airport Parkway, which is about a 20 minute walk to the ground. Southampton Airport Parkway station is served by trains from London Waterloo.

From Eastleigh Bus Station you can catch the Blue Star Number Two service towards Southampton City Centre, which passes near to the stadium.

GROUND DESCRIPTION

The Stadium is in a period of transition in that two of the sides are possibly of a temporary nature. The Appletons Signs Stand was extended in 2017 and can seat around 1,200.

The Reign Terrace is opposite and has been there since 2014 – the structure formerly of Exeter RFC. The Nuffield Health Community Stand behind the south goal is all seated and the Silverlake Stand is a small covered terrace behind the north goal.

EAT AND DRINK

The Concorde Club is just north of the ground and should welcome away supporters. Alternatively, the Cricketers on Chestnut Avenue is one of the only other pubs nearby.

There will be a bar available in the Away end which opens from 1:30pm. Pints are priced at £4.50, with bottles at £4. This bar will only accept cash.

Opposite Eastleigh Station is the local Wetherspoons outlet called the Wagon Works.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS AND MEMORIES

The Bees stormed to a 3-0 win in April 2019 courtesy of Shaq Coulthirst (2) and Ephron Mason-Clark.

Barnet also had a successful trip in March 2015 with goals from John Akinde and Curtis Weston sealing a 2-1 win. That game began a nine match unbeaten run which took the club to the Vanarama National League title.

CONNECTIONS

Ben Strevens, Mark Marshall, Bondz N’Gala, Martin Allen and Andy Hessenthaler, Warren Goodhind, Lee Cook, Ross Flitney, Richard Graham, Graham Stack are amongst those who have associations with both clubs.

CELEBRITY WATCH

Comedian Benny Hill lived and worked in Eastleigh. His early job as a Milkman here inspired his Number One hit record in 1971 “Ernie”.

Enjoy the match, Reckless

His attempts to keep that information quiet were fruitless and consequently he resigned the Presidency in shame in August 1974.

On another American theme, buried in a Wrexham graveyard is Elihu Yale who is one of the first British settlers across the pond. He founded the world famous Yale University in 1701.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are the co-owners of the Welsh club after taking them over in February 2021.
